The LORIS satellite, designated NORAD CAT ID 55125 and OBJECT ID 1998-067US, is a CubeSat (2U) technology demonstrator launched on November 20, 1998, from the TYSMC site at LC39A using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle. It has dimensions of 0.2 meters in length and span with a diameter of 0.1 meters. The satellite weighs 2 kilograms both at launch and dry mass. Manufactured by DALU, LORIS is owned and operated for technology purposes. Its power comes from solar cells and batteries, and it maintains a box shape. As of December 29, 2022, the satellite was still operational.
