Summary
FLOCK 1-12, also known as Flock 1-16, is a CubeSat (3U) technology satellite launched on November 20, 1998, from the TYSMC launch site using an Antares 120 launch vehicle. The satellite was manufactured by PLABS for the US and has dimensions of 0.3 meters in length, 0.1 meters in diameter, and a span of 0.3 meters. It weighs 4.25 kilograms both at launch and dry mass-wise, equipped with solar cells and batteries for power supply. The satellite is configured with a PS0, PS1, or PS2 imaging payload named Dove 0727. Its shape consists of a box with two panels. FLOCK 1-12 was designed to operate in low Earth orbit with an expected lifetime of approximately one year when placed in the ISS orbit and between two to three years in Sun-Synchronous Orbit (SSO). The satellite achieved stability on February 14, 2014.
