DRAGONSAT, also known as AggieSat 2, is a CubeSat 1U satellite measuring 5 inches in cube form and weighing 2 kilograms at launch. It was launched by the Space Shuttle from LC39A on July 15, 2009, with a stable operational date set for July 30, 2009. The satellite is owned by Texas A&M University (TAMU) and its primary mission is technology demonstration. DRAGONSAT is equipped with a Dragon GPS receiver and powered by solar cells and batteries. Its shape is box-like with dimensions of 0.1 meters in length, diameter, and span. The satellite does not have an onboard propulsion system but has a radar cross-section (RCS) value of 0.023 square meters.
