STS 86, also known as Atlantis (STS-86), is a US crewed spacecraft launched on September 26, 1997, from LC39A at AFETR using the Space Shuttle launch vehicle. It has a configuration of a winged orbiter with dimensions measuring 37.3 meters in length and span, and a diameter of 23.8 meters. The spacecraft was manufactured by BNAP and had a dry mass of 90511 kilograms and a launch mass of 100467 kilograms. It is owned by JSC and powered by fuel cells and batteries. Its mission purpose was to serve as a crewed spacecraft, with its shape described as box + 2 wing + fin.
