Summary
REX 2, also known as REX II, is an experimental satellite operated by STP (Space Test Program) and was launched on March 9, 1996, from the AFWTR using a Pegasus XL launch vehicle from RW30/12 pad. The spacecraft uses the GemStar Bus configuration with a MiniSTAR bus design manufactured by CTA. It measures 0.6 meters in length, has a diameter of 0.8 meters, and spans up to 6.6 meters when its components are deployed. REX 2 weighs 110 kilograms both at launch and dry mass. The satellite is powered by four deployable fixed solar arrays along with batteries for energy storage. Its shape consists of a cylinder combined with two panels and an antenna.
