Summary
COSMOS 1908 (also known as Kosmos-1908) is a SIGINT satellite launched by the Soviet Union on January 6, 1988, from the PLMSC launch site using a Tsiklon-3 launch vehicle from Launch Pad LC32/2. The spacecraft has dimensions of 3.2 meters in length and 1.3 meters in diameter with a span of 13.1 meters. It weighs 1750 kilograms both at launch and dry mass, carrying the Ikar No. 60L payload for its SIGINT mission. COSMOS 1908 is equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries to provide power. Its structure consists of a cylindrical body with antennas, manufactured by YUZH, and operated by the GRU (Main Intelligence Directorate). The satellite's expected operational lifetime was six months.
