Summary
SDX01, also known as SPADEX-A, is an Indian microsatellite based on the Modified IMS-1 platform and configured as a Microsatellite-SSB (SSB-2). Launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre's First Launch Pad by PSLV-CA C60 on December 30, 2024, SDX01 is part of ISRO's mission to demonstrate autonomous rendezvous and docking capabilities. The spacecraft has dimensions of 1 meter in length, a diameter of 0.5 meters, and a span of 2.5 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. It weighs 220 kg at launch and 180 kg dry mass. Equipped with various sensors including a laser rangefinder, rendezvous sensor, proximity and docking sensor, image sensor, accelerometers, star tracker, and high-resolution camera for imaging and video capture, SDX01 operates on VHF/UHF bands for inter-satellite communication.
