USA 409, also known by its alternate name USA 409, is a satellite owned by NROC and manufactured by SPXS. It was launched on September 6, 2024, from SLC4E at AFWTR using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle. The satellite features the Starshield bus configuration with dimensions of 0.3 meters in length, 4.1 meters in diameter, and spans 29 meters when deployed. It has a dry mass of 700 kilograms and a launch mass of 750 kilograms. Power is provided by deployable solar arrays. The satellite’s purpose is unknown but speculated to be related to imaging or SIGINT (signals intelligence). Its shape is described as "Box + pan."
