TechEdSat-11 (TES-11) is a 6U CubeSat satellite designed by NASA Ames Research Center and San Jose State University for technology demonstration purposes, focusing on autonomous communication protocols and deorbit technology. Launched on July 4, 2024, from Vandenberg Space Force Base using the Firefly Alpha launch vehicle, it measures 0.4 meters in length with a diameter of 0.1 meters and a span of 2 meters when deployed. The satellite has a dry mass of 10 kg and uses solar cells and batteries for power. It is equipped with a Gen-2 TES SDR S-band Radio and an NVIDIA® TX2-I GPU for onboard processing, along with an Exo-Brake deorbit device and an autonomous communication system. TechEdSat-11 operates on a 1621.250 MHz (S-band downlink) frequency and is designed to operate for approximately six months, subject to in-orbit conditions. The satellite's shape is box-like with deployable Exo-Brake and it employs spin stabilization for orientation control.
