Summary
The CSS (Mengtian) satellite, also known by its alternative name Mengtian and designated OBJECT_ID 2022-143A, is a component of China's space station mission owned by the CMSEO (China Manned Space Engineering Office). Launched on October 31, 2022, from Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site LC101 using the Chang Zheng 5B launch vehicle, Mengtian has dimensions of 17.9 meters in length and a diameter of 4.2 meters with a span of 55 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. The satellite has a dry mass of 21,500 kg and launched at a total mass of 23,000 kg. Its power is provided by two deployable solar arrays and batteries, and it is designed to operate for up to ten years in orbit. Mengtian’s shape consists of a step cylinder with two panels and was manufactured by CAST (China Academy of Space Technology).
