It has a dry mass of 275 kilograms and weighed 297 kilograms at launch. Equipped with Ku/Ka-band payload and an optical inter-satellite link, the satellite is designed for communication purposes and utilizes krypton ion thrusters as its propulsion system. Power is supplied through solar arrays and batteries. The mission falls under the ownership of SpaceX (SPXS), which also manufactured the satellite.
