Summary
AMAZONIA 1, also known as Amazonia-1, is an Earth observation satellite operated by INPE (National Institute for Space Research) from Brazil. Launched on February 28, 2021, from Satish Dhawan Space Centre using a PSLV-DL launch vehicle, the satellite has dimensions of 2.2 meters in length and 0.9 meters in diameter with a span of 6 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. It has a dry mass of 600 kilograms and a launch mass of 637 kilograms. Equipped with AWFI (Advanced Wide Field Imager) and RALCAM-3 sensors, AMAZONIA 1 is designed to capture high-resolution images for Earth observation purposes over a projected operational lifetime of four years. The satellite's power comes from two deployable solar arrays and batteries. Its shape consists of a box structure with two panels that extend outward.
