Summary
IRIDIUM 131, also known as Iridium Next SV131, is a communication and traffic monitoring satellite operated by IRIDS. It was launched on December 23, 2017, from AFWTR SLC4E using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle. The satellite has dimensions of 3.1 meters in length, 1.5 meters in diameter, and spans 9.4 meters with its solar arrays deployed. It has a dry mass of 700 kg and a launch mass of 860 kg. Equipped with an L-band payload for communication, Ka-band cross-links and downlinks, as well as ADS-B and AIS-receivers (part of the configuration on 58 satellites), it was designed to have a lifetime of up to 15 years. The satellite is powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries and has a half hex prism shape with two panels. It was manufactured by OATKGA as part of the EliteBus series, specifically the ELiTeBus-1000 configuration.
