ASGARDIA 1, also known as Asgardia-1, is a CubeSat (2U) satellite operated by ASGARD and launched on November 12, 2017, from the Wallops Island Launch Pad (WLPIS), using an Antares 230 launch vehicle. The satellite has dimensions of 0.2 meters in length and diameter with a span of 0.2 meters, and it weighs approximately 2.8 kilograms at launch, reducing to 3 kilograms when dry. It is equipped with a 512 gigabyte solid state hard drive and two particle detectors for its mission objectives related to communications and technology. The satellite operates on power from solar cells and batteries. With a planned lifetime of six months, ASGARDIA 1 serves as a demonstration platform for space-based technologies and communication systems.
