The LINK satellite, identified by NORAD as 42714 and designated OBJECT_ID as 1998-067LV, is a CubeSat (2U) built by KAIST in South Korea. It was launched on November 20, 1998, from the TYSMC launch site using an Atlas V 401 launch vehicle from SLC41 pad. The satellite's dimensions are 0.2 meters in length, 0.1 meters in diameter, and 0.2 meters in span, with a dry mass of 2 kg and a similar launch mass. Equipped with INMS (Ion-Neutral Mass Spectrometer), Thermocouple experiment, and Langmuir probes for technology and thermospheric research purposes, LINK is powered by two deployable fixed solar arrays and batteries. The mission was expected to last three months and its primary payload was designated as QB50-KR01.
