AAUSAT 5 is a CubeSat (1U) satellite owned and operated by AAU, manufactured in Denmark. It was launched on November 20, 1998, from the Tanegashima Space Center using an H-IIB launch vehicle. The satellite measures 0.1 meters in length, diameter, and span with a dry mass of 1 kilogram and is powered by solar cells and batteries. Its primary mission involves technology demonstration and traffic monitoring through its AIS-receiver payload. AAUSAT 5 became stable on October 5, 2015, and has the shape of a box with an RCS (reflectivity coefficient) value of 0.0182.
