COSMOS 2508, also known as Kosmos-2508, is a military communication satellite belonging to Russia's VVKOV (Russian Aerospace Forces). It was launched on September 23, 2015, from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome Launch Site PLMSC using the Rokot launch vehicle. The spacecraft has dimensions of 1.6 meters in length and 0.8 meters in diameter with a span of 7 meters due to its antennas. Weighing 280 kilograms at launch and in dry mass, it is equipped with solar cells and batteries for power supply. The satellite is based on the Strela-3M bus manufactured by RESH (Research Institute of Space Systems) and carries a Rodnik-S No. 24L payload.
