XINYAN 1 (XY-1), also known as Xinyan-1, is a technology demonstration satellite operated by CASC/DFHS and manufactured by DFHS in China. It was launched on November 18, 2012, from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center using the Chang Zheng 2C launch vehicle from launch pad LC9. The satellite has dimensions of 1 meter in length and diameter with a span of 2 meters, and it weighs 130 kilograms at launch and dry mass. Its power system consists of deployable solar arrays, solar cells, and batteries. XINYAN 1's payload is described as Xinjishu yanzhen weixing (新技术验证微星), suggesting its mission is related to technology verification in space. The satellite has a shape consisting of box structures with panels and features an RCS value of 0.8049, indicating its radar cross-section size.
