KANOPUS-V 1, also known as Kanopus-V, is an Earth Observation satellite launched on July 22, 2012, from the Tsiolkovsky State Space Center (TYMSC) at LC31 using a Soyuz-FG launch vehicle. It measures 1 meter in length and has a diameter of 0.6 meters with a span of 6 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. The satellite has a dry mass of 400 kg and was equipped with PSS (Panchromatic Stereo Scanner) and MSS (Multispectral Scanner) for imaging purposes. Its mission is to conduct Earth Observation over a lifetime of five years. KANOPUS-V 1 is powered by two deployable fixed solar arrays and batteries, and its propulsion system consists of two SPT-50 engines. The satellite was designed using the Kanopus bus configuration and manufactured by VNIIEMI, which also owns it. Its shape is described as a box with two panels.
