Summary
The Navid satellite, also known as Navid-e Elm-o Sanat, was launched on February 3, 2012, from SEMLS using the Safir launch vehicle. With a dry mass of 50 kg and dimensions of 0.4 m in length, 0.5 m in diameter, and a span of 0.5 m, it is shaped like a box. The satellite was designed for Earth observation by IRSA (Islamic Republic of Iran Space Agency) with solar cells and batteries as its power source. Launched from the SAF pad, Navid was manufactured by SUT/IUST (Sharif University of Technology/Iran University of Science and Technology). Although it had a planned lifetime of 1.5 years, it achieved only about two months of operation in orbit.
