Summary
AMAZONAS 2 (also known as Amazonas-2) is a communication satellite manufactured by ASTT and owned by HISPM/HISP. Launched on October 1, 2009, from the ELA3 pad at the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana using an Ariane 5ECA launch vehicle, it has a configuration based on the Eurostar-3000 bus. The satellite measures 6.7 meters in length with a diameter of 2.9 meters and spans approximately 39 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. At launch, AMAZONAS 2 had a mass of 5465 kilograms, reducing to a dry mass of 3000 kilograms after deployment.
