Summary
ALSAT 1, also known as AlSat-1, is an Earth observation satellite designed and manufactured by SSTL (Surrey Satellite Technology Limited) for ASAL (Agence Spatiale Algérienne). Launched on November 28, 2002, from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome LC132/1 launch site in Russia using a Kosmos 11K65M launch vehicle, ALSAT 1 has dimensions of 0.6 meters in length and diameter with a span of 6.6 meters. It has a dry mass of 90 kilograms and is equipped with a 32-meter resolution imager operating in three spectral bands for capturing Earth imagery. The satellite's power supply consists of solar cells and batteries, and it utilizes resistojets as its propulsion system. Its shape can be described as box-shaped with antennas attached. ALSAT 1 operates in a microsat-100 configuration and is used primarily for Earth observation purposes.
