Summary
ECHOSTAR 6, also known as Echostar VI, is a communication satellite built for Direct Broadcasting purposes and operated by EchoStar Corporation. It was launched on July 14, 2000, from Space Launch Complex 36B (SLC36B) at the Air Force Eastern Test Range (AFETR), using an Atlas IIAS launch vehicle. The satellite is based on the SSL-1300 bus and manufactured by Loral Space Systems (LOR). It features a configuration of Box + 2 Pan, with dimensions including a length of 5.5 meters, diameter of 4 meters, and span of 30.7 meters when solar arrays are deployed. ECHOSTAR 6 is equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply, and carries 32 Ku-band transponders as its primary payload. The satellite has a launch mass of 3700 kg and a dry mass of 1493 kg. Its expected lifetime was 12 years from the date of deployment.
