DMSP 5D-3 F15 (USA 147), also known as DMSP F-15, is a meteorological satellite launched on December 12, 1999, from AFWTR SLC4W using a Titan II SLV launch vehicle. It has dimensions of 6.1 meters in length and 1.2 meters in diameter with a span of 6.4 meters. The spacecraft weighs 1082 kg at launch and has a dry mass of 1030 kg. Its design is based on the TIROS-N Bus, manufactured by LMEW, equipped with deployable solar arrays and batteries for power generation. The satellite's mission was to provide meteorological data and it was operated by AFSMC. It featured a Box + Pan shape with an RCS of 3.9811, designed for a five-year operational lifetime.
