Summary
ECHOSTAR 3, also known as Echostar III, is a communication satellite manufactured by LMCSS and owned by ECHO. Launched on October 5, 1997, from Launch Complex 36B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station using an Atlas IIAS launch vehicle, the satellite has dimensions of 2.6 meters in length, a diameter of 2 meters, and a span of 22 meters with its solar arrays deployed. It weighs 1600 kg dry and had a launch mass of 3670 kg. Equipped with 32 Ku-band transponders for direct broadcasting communication, ECHOSTAR 3 is powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries.
