IRIDIUM 921, also known as Iridium 21, is a communication satellite launched on July 9, 1997, from AFWTR SLC2W using the Delta 7920-10C launch vehicle. The spacecraft has dimensions of 3.5 meters in length and 1 meter in diameter with a span of 5 meters, featuring a box shape plus two panels. It was manufactured by MOTO/LMMS as part of the LM-700A configuration based on the LM700 bus design. The satellite weighs approximately 662 kg at launch and has a dry mass of 556 kg. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power, it was designed to operate in orbit for an estimated eight years. The purpose of IRIDIUM 921 is communication as part of the Iridium constellation, specifically designated as Iridium SV021. It has a radar cross-section (RCS) value of 4.2155 and its owner is IRID.
