Summary
COSMOS 2344 (also known as Kosmos-2344) is a reconnaissance satellite launched by Russia on June 6, 1997, from the TYMSC launch site using the Proton-K/17S40 launch vehicle. The spacecraft measures 3 meters in length with a diameter of 2.3 meters and a span of 5.7 meters when fully deployed. It has a dry mass of 4,000 kg and was originally planned for a four-year mission but operated differently based on individual satellite units. Equipped with a 1.5-meter telescope (17V317) and deployable fixed solar arrays with batteries for power, it transmits data from its photo reconnaissance missions. The satellite is part of the Arkon Platform manufactured by NPOL and was launched as Araks-N No. 6420.
