Summary
TDRS 7, also known as TIROS D, is a communication and data relay satellite launched by NASA on July 13, 1995, from the Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39B using the Space Shuttle. The spacecraft measures 1.3 meters in length, has a diameter of 2.4 meters, and spans 17.4 meters across its solar arrays or dish antennas. It has a launch mass of 2225 kg and a dry mass of 1673 kg. Equipped with multiple Ku-band TWTAs for linearly polarized (LP) zone coverage and circularly polarized (CP) spot coverage, as well as S-band SSPAs used for intersatellite links, it is powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The satellite was manufactured by TRW and operated by GSFC (Goddard Space Flight Center).
