Summary
AMSC 1, also known as AMSC 1, is a communication satellite manufactured by HSES and owned by AMSC. It was launched on April 7, 1995, from the Air Force Eastern Test Range (AFETR) using an Atlas IIA launch vehicle from Launch Complex 36A (LC36A). The satellite has a bus configuration of HS-601 and measures 4 meters in length with a diameter of 2.8 meters and a span of 21 meters. It weighs 1,400 kilograms dry and had a launch mass of 2,995 kilograms. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply, it supports communication purposes through six active L-band transponders (with four additional available). The satellite's design includes box-shaped main body with two panels and dishes. It was stabilized by April 8, 1995, and is expected to have a lifetime of ten years.
