Summary
COSMOS 2287 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-2287, is a Russian navigation satellite launched on August 11, 1994, from the Tyuratam Space Center (TYMSC) using a Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. The satellite, part of the GLONASS constellation, has a 3-Axis stabilized configuration and measures approximately 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and a span of 7.8 meters. It was manufactured by POL (Information Satellite Systems Reshetnev) for the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS). The satellite's dry mass is 1200 kg, and it had an initial launch mass of 1300 kg. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power, COSMOS 2287 was designed to operate in orbit for a lifetime of approximately three years. The payload consists of the Uragan No. 67L system intended for navigation purposes.
