The PROGRESS-M 23 satellite, also known as Progress M-23, was launched on May 22, 1994, from the TSYMC launch site using a Soyuz-U2 launch vehicle from Launch Pad LC1. The spacecraft has dimensions of 7.9 meters in length and diameter, and its dry mass is 4500 kilograms with an initial launch mass of 7117 kilograms. It was manufactured by RKKE for cargo purposes and equipped with deployable fixed solar arrays and batteries to provide power. The satellite's shape is a combination of sphere, cone, cylinder, and pan sections. Its mission is focused on transporting cargo and it uses the KTDU-80 (S5.80) motor for propulsion.
