Summary
SCD 1, also known as SCD-1, is a satellite launched by INPE on February 9, 1993, from Vandenberg AFB using the Pegasus launch vehicle from Launch Pad RW15/33. It has an octagonal prism shape and measures 0.7 meters in length with a diameter of 1 meter and a span of 1 meter. The satellite's dry mass is 115 kg, which is also its launch mass. SCD 1 was designed for data collection and relay purposes and operated on solar cells and batteries for power. Its mission lifetime was planned to last for one year.
