COSMOS 2174 (Kosmos-2174) is an area reconnaissance satellite launched on December 17, 1991, by the Soviet Union from the Tsimlyan launch site using a Soyuz-U launch vehicle. The spacecraft has dimensions of 6.5 meters in length and diameter with a span also measuring 6.5 meters. It had a dry mass and launch mass both weighing 2720 kilograms. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries, the satellite's mission was to conduct area reconnaissance through photographic methods using film return technology. The payload used for this purpose was Kometa No. 14L. The satellite is based on the Yantar Bus with a Zenit reentry module design and was manufactured by TSSKB.
