COSMOS 2131, also known as Kosmos-2131, is a military communication satellite launched by the Soviet Union on February 12, 1991, from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome LC133/3 launch pad using a Kosmos 11K65M launch vehicle. The spacecraft has dimensions of 0.8 meters in length, diameter, and span, with a dry mass of 60 kg and was launched at the same mass. It is powered by solar cells and batteries. The satellite's mission was to support military communication purposes, and it had a planned lifetime of six months. Manufactured by NPOPM, COSMOS 2131 carried a Strela-1M Blok 45 No. 7 payload and featured a poly shape with a radar cross-section (RCS) of 0.65.
