COSMOS 2097, also known as Kosmos-2097, is an early warning satellite launched by the Soviet Union on August 28, 1990, from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome using a Molniya 8K78M-PVB launch vehicle. It has dimensions of 4 meters in length, 2 meters in diameter, and spans 5 meters with its solar arrays deployed. The satellite weighs 1150 kilograms dry and had a launch mass of 1250 kilograms. Equipped with two deployable fixed solar arrays and batteries for power, it is designed to provide early warning capabilities as part of the Oko system. Manufactured by NPOL/KOMET, COSMOS 2097 carries an Oko 73D6 payload designated No. 6056 and belongs to the Russian Air Force (PVO). The satellite's shape consists of a cylinder with two panels attached.
