COSMOS 2096 (also known as Kosmos-2096) is an ocean surveillance satellite launched on August 23, 1990, from the TYMSC launch site using a Tsiklon-2 launch vehicle. It was manufactured by ARSL/KOMET and belongs to the VMF owner in the Soviet Union (SU). The spacecraft has a configuration of US-Bus with dimensions of 10 meters in length, 1.3 meters in diameter, and a span of 17 meters. It had a dry mass of 3000 kilograms and a launch mass of 3300 kilograms. COSMOS 2096 was equipped with two deployable fixed solar arrays and batteries for power generation. Its primary mission is passive ocean surveillance. The satellite's shape consists of a cylinder with two panels, and it has an RCS value of 27.8261.
