COSMOS 2049 (also known as Kosmos-2049) is a reconnaissance satellite with a photo data transmitting capability launched by the Soviet Union on November 17, 1989, from the TSMC launch site using the Soyuz-U launch vehicle. It has dimensions of 7.5 meters in length and 2.7 meters in diameter, with a span of 8.5 meters and a dry mass of 3390 kg. The satellite is equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power generation. Its mission involves reconnaissance activities and it uses the Yantar'-4KS1 bus configuration. The satellite's shape consists of a cylinder plus two panels, giving it an RCS (radar cross-section) of 72.19 square meters.
