STS 34, also known as Atlantis (STS-34), is a winged orbiter spacecraft launched on October 18, 1989, from LC39B at the Kennedy Space Center using a Space Shuttle launch vehicle. It has dimensions of 37.3 meters in length and span, with a diameter of 23.8 meters. The dry mass is recorded as 85494 kg while its launch mass was 90933 kg. Manufactured by RWI, the spacecraft features fuel cells and batteries for power supply and has a box-like shape complemented by two wings and fins. It served as a crewed spacecraft and operated under ownership of JSC (Johnson Space Center).
