COSMOS 2019, also known as Kosmos-2019, is a reconnaissance satellite (film return type) launched on May 5, 1989, from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome using a Soyuz-U-PVB launch vehicle. The spacecraft uses the Zenit bus configuration and has dimensions of 6 meters in length, 2.2 meters in diameter, and a span of 6 meters. It weighs 2,655 kilograms at launch and is equipped with batteries for power. Manufactured by TSSKB under the Oblik series, it features motors including 11D82M and S5.120 (maneuver module). Its shape consists of a sphere plus DCone design with a radar cross-section (RCS) of 12.88 square meters. The satellite is owned by UNKS and was launched for reconnaissance purposes, specifically photo reconnaissance through film return methods.
