COSMOS 1969, also known as Kosmos-1969, is a reconnaissance satellite launched on September 15, 1988, from the Plesetsk Missile and Space Complex (PLMSC), using a Soyuz-U launch vehicle from Launch Pad LC41/1. It was manufactured by TSSKB and designed for photo reconnaissance with a film return type payload known as Kobal't No. 876. The spacecraft features a configuration consisting of the Yantar Bus, a main reentry module, and two small reentry capsules. COSMOS 1969 has dimensions of 6.3 meters in length, 2.7 meters in diameter, and 6.3 meters in span. It weighs 2886 kilograms both at launch and dry mass. The satellite is powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries. Its shape is described as cylindrical with two panels (Cyl + 2 Pan).
