COSMOS 1963, also known as Kosmos-1963, is a reconnaissance satellite launched by the Soviet Union on August 16, 1988, from Tyuratam (TYMSC) Launch Complex 1 using a Soyuz-U launch vehicle. The spacecraft has a cylindrical shape with two pans and dimensions of 6.3 meters in length and 2.7 meters in diameter. It features a Yantar'-4K2 bus design, consisting of the main reentry module along with two small reentry capsules for reconnaissance purposes, specifically photo (film return type) missions. The satellite has a dry mass of 2886 kilograms and its power system includes deployable solar arrays and batteries. Manufactured by TSSKB, COSMOS 1963's mission involves the Kobal't No. 520 payload for reconnaissance activities.
