Summary
SPOT 1 was an Earth observation satellite launched by CNES on February 22, 1986, from Guiana Space Centre using an Ariane 1 launch vehicle. The spacecraft measured 4.5 meters in length with a diameter of 2 meters and spanned 8.1 meters. It had a dry mass of 1750 kg and a launch mass of 1900 kg. SPOT 1 was configured as a SPOT Mk.1 satellite, manufactured by MATT, and equipped with two HRV imagers for Earth observation. The power system consisted of deployable solar arrays and batteries.
