COSMOS 1637, also known as Kosmos-1637, is a military communication satellite launched by GUKOS (Soviet Ministry of Defence) on March 21, 1985, from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome using a Kosmos 11K65M launch vehicle. The satellite has dimensions of 0.8 meters in length, diameter, and span, with a dry mass of 60 kilograms and was launched at this same weight. It is based on the Strela-1 11F625 bus and carries the Strela-1M Blok 37 No. 3 payload for its military communication mission. The satellite's power system consists of solar cells and batteries, and it has a polyhedral shape with an RCS (Reflective Coefficient Surface) value of 0.6757. Its operational lifetime was estimated to be about six months.
