COSMOS 1626 (also known as Kosmos-1626) is a SIGINT satellite with the OBJECT_ID 1985-009A, manufactured by YUZH and launched on January 24, 1985, from PLMSC LC32/2 using the Tsiklon-3 launch vehicle. It has dimensions of 3.2 meters in length, a diameter of 1.3 meters, and a span of 13.1 meters. The satellite had a dry mass and launch mass of 1750 kg each, equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power generation. Its mission was to conduct SIGINT (signals intelligence) operations on behalf of the GRU (Main Intelligence Directorate), carrying the Ikar No. 36L payload. The satellite had a short operational lifetime of about six months.
