COSMOS 1606, also known as Kosmos-1606, is a SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) satellite launched on October 18, 1984, from the PLMSC launch site using LC32/2 and the Tsiklon-3 launch vehicle. Manufactured by YUZH for the GRU, this Tselina-D class satellite has dimensions of 3.2 meters in length, 1.3 meters in diameter, and a span of 13.1 meters with its antennas deployed. The spacecraft has a dry mass of 1750 kg and was powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries. Its mission focused on SIGINT operations and featured the Ikar No. 42L payload. With an expected lifetime of six months, COSMOS 1606 had a radar cross-section (RCS) of 7.1218 and was cylindrical in shape with antennas attached.
