COSMOS 1600 (also known as Kosmos-1600) is a reconnaissance satellite equipped for photo reconnaissance using film return technology. It was launched on September 27, 1984, from the Tyuratam Space Centre Launch Complex 1 using a Soyuz-U launch vehicle. The spacecraft is based on the Zenit bus and has a configuration known as Oblik. The satellite's shape is described as a sphere with a DCone attachment.
