COSMOS 1539 (also known as Kosmos-1539) is a reconnaissance satellite launched by the Soviet Union on February 28, 1984, from PLMSC LC16/2 using a Soyuz-U launch vehicle. The satellite has a Yantar'-4K2 bus configuration consisting of a main reentry module and two small reentry capsules. It measures 6.3 meters in length with a diameter and span of 2.7 meters each. Weighing 2886 kg at launch, the satellite is equipped with deployable solar arrays and batteries for power generation. Its mission was to conduct photo reconnaissance using film return technology as part of its Kobal't No. 805 payload. The spacecraft's shape consists of a cylinder with two panels and has an RCS (reaction control system) area of 48.29 square meters. The satellite was manufactured by TSSKB and owned by GUKOS, the Main Directorate for Space Systems.
