Summary
COSMOS 1523, also known as Kosmos-1523, is a military communication satellite launched by the Soviet Union on January 5, 1984, from the PLMSC site using launch pad LC132/2 with the launch vehicle Kosmos 11K65M. The spacecraft, which has dimensions of 0.8 meters in length, diameter, and span, had a dry mass and launch mass both at 60 kilograms. It was designed by NPOPM and operated for approximately six months under the ownership of GUKOS. Powered by solar cells and batteries, COSMOS 1523 carried a Strela-1M Blok 35 No. 2 payload for its military communication mission.
