COSMOS 1494 (also known as Kosmos-1494) is a radar calibration satellite launched by the Soviet Union on August 31, 1983, from the Kymylkino launch site using the Kosmos 11K65M launch vehicle. It has a configuration of AUOS-3 and was manufactured by YUZH for the PVO (Air Defense Forces). The satellite measures 2.5 meters in length with a diameter of 1.8 meters and spans 23 meters, including its solar arrays. Its dry mass is 925 kg, and it had an initial launch mass of 1045 kg. It is equipped with eight deployable fixed solar arrays and batteries for power supply. The satellite's primary mission was radar calibration using the Taifun-2V (07) payload system.
