The MOLNIYA 3-21 satellite, also known as Molniya-3, was manufactured by NPOPM and launched on August 30, 1983, from the PLMSC launch site using a Molniya 8K78M launch vehicle. It has dimensions of 3.6 meters in length, 1.6 meters in diameter, and a span of 8.1 meters. The satellite's dry mass is 1700 kg with an initial launch mass of 1750 kg. Its mission was communication, equipped with six deployable solar arrays providing 1000 W power along with batteries. MOLNIYA 3-21 operated for approximately three years and had a configuration known as KAUR-2 based on the Molniya-3 bus. The satellite was owned by NPOPM/MSVYAZ and carried a payload designated as Molniya-3 No. 32L, featuring a KDU-414A (S5.114) or 11D414NS motor for its propulsion system. Its shape is characterized as cylindrical with six panels, and it had an RCS of 15.2109.
